Big Horn Sheep Canyon Hwy 50 enroute to Monarch Mountain for Snowboarding

They don't call it Big Horn Sheep Canyon for Nuthin'
We were driving along enjoying the view and just happened to notice movement in the rock.  We've been dying to see Big Horned Sheep since we've lived here.  Finally, in their natural environment.  We stopped off at a launch site for kayak's and fly fishing, there was a local woman there too who said, "I live here and it's rare that we see them", so, we consider ourselves very fortunate.

They are so majestic to see in the wild! Dad and I saw two on our way from Billings to Twin Falls when Taryn was born. It was amazing! They were eating bark off of trees in some THICK snow. I'm glad you got to have that experience.

cool! i've seen plenty of wildlife where we live (had 2 moose in our backyard once after a MaJOR snowstorm--crazy) but never seen these!

so how's your snowboarding skills? my hubby tried teaching me while we were dating. i can get down the mountain OKAY, but i am such a scaredy cat it is ridiculous! I think I am too old for skiing these days. it hurts so bad when you catch an edge snowboarding, i want to cry. wait, i do cry when that happens! lol! i got a small concussion once when i fell off a ridiculously steep off ramp from the lift. i hit my head on some ice. fond memories. not. heh heh. i will ONLY go now if it is fresh powder so it won't hurt when i fall :) GENIUS. I know.

Snowboarding skills, amateur, if I go faster than 35 mph I sit down. I'm a scaredy cat too. I've also sustained a face first concussion in hard snow, but still refuse to were a dorky helmet. I just limit myself to 4 downhills and then go to the lodge and chill. Since this last trip I've been working on plyometrics (jump squats/split squats) to build up the burst strength in the muscle fibers of my legs and connective tissue around my joints, I've been using this cool cardio equipment at the gym by TechnoGym from Italy that imitates skiing and inline skating, that's really strengthening my hips. So, next time I go I'm eating as much carbs as I can down, and my lower half will be ready to zoom.

You are so in touch with your body machine! By the way I am taking Yoga classes in Riggins, I thought it would be easy, but it is challenging, makes me sore, this ol' body needs lots of help!!! I haven't seen those critters in the wild yet. Luck you, awesome thing to see.
